Financial Literacy Resources

The Youth Development Department (YDD) is committed to helping young Angelenos and their families build strong financial futures. In partnership with trusted community organizations, we offer free, accessible, and culturally relevant financial literacy resources, from mobile learning tools to guides for immigrant families. Whether you're budgeting for the first time, planning for college, or managing a crisis, these tools are here to support informed, confident money decisions.

Financial Literacy Hub

The City of Los Angeles and SUMA Wealth have partnered to launch the L.A. Financial Literacy Hub, a new mobile-based platform bringing free, culturally relevant financial education directly to youth across Los Angeles. The hub meets young people where they are, offering real-world tools like short videos, budgeting resources, and downloadable worksheets, all accessible through the SUMA app. Whether you’re figuring out how to budget, build credit, or save for college, this hub gives you the knowledge and confidence to make smart money moves. Plus, youth who complete the modules earn a co-branded Certificate of Financial Literacy from the City of Los Angeles and SUMA Wealth. The L.A. Financial Literacy Hub is a project led by City of Los Angeles Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and the Youth Development Department in partnership with SUMA Wealth.
